Sravani is a native of Ramapuram mandal in Kadapa district. Her father Ramakrishna Reddy is working as a senior assistant at Ramapuram Junior College. To realise her dream of securing admission in a medical college, she underwent long-term coaching in Hyderabad. Fully confident of getting a top rank in EAMCET, she along with her mother left Hyderabad for Kadapa on Tuesday night to appear for the entrance test on Thursday. While she was alighting from the train at Kadapa railway station on Wednesday morning, she slipped and her foot got stuck between the train and the platform. Her mother cried for help and other passengers rushed to help them.

After they struggled for a while, they could rescue the girl but by then she already sustained a severe injury to her leg. Sravani was immediately rushed to RIMS at Kadapa. As her condition was critical, she was later shifted to Tirupati. As the doctors in Tirupati also expressed concern over her condition, it is learnt that she was taken to Vellore hospital for better treatment. Her relatives visited RIMS and broke down on learning about her condition. They offered prayers to the Lord to protect her life.
