Hyderabad: TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu are in the process of giving final touches to the administrative set up for the new States --Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively.

Hyderabad: AP Will Have 25 Ministers, Telangana to Start With 17

While it is being said that the Telangana Cabinet would consist of 17 departments the residuary Andhra Pradesh will have 25 departments, apart from the Chief Minister. The Andhra Pradesh government will create a new department, which would supervise the construction of the new capital for Seemandhra.

This department would be directly under the control of the Chief Minister. Naidu is also in the process of identifying a person, who has good knowledge with regard to industries and information technology. The Andhra Pradesh government is also contemplating to give a boost to the ports and coastal corridor development by having an exclusive department for it.

It is learnt that all the welfare departments would be brought under single umbrella. Similarly, agriculture and allied departments will be made as one department. As per the A P Reorganisation Act, the Centre declared tax holiday to the industries to be set up in Rayalaseema and north coastal districts. The industries department will be made responsible to attract and promote new industries.

In Telangana, TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao is planning to promote the brand image of Hyderabad by attracting new investments in the capital. For that, he is searching for a young and dynamic person, who has knowledge in industries and information technology. It is learnt that he made up his mind to give the portfolio to Kothagudem MLA- elect Jalagam Venktat Rao, son of former Chief Minister Jalagam Vengala Rao. KCR had various plans to complete the pending irrigation projects in Telangana and he is searching for suitable person for it.

Sources say that in Telangana, all the irrigation departments such as small, medium and major would be merged into one single department. The departments like rural water supply, Panchayat Raj and rural development will be under one portfolio. Similarly, agriculture department would consist of allied sectors -- animal husbandry, sericulture, horticulture and fisheries.
