Hyderabad: TDP's two-day annual conclave ‘33 Mahanadu’ got off to a grand start at ‘Telugu Vijayam’ campus, Gandipet, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu dedicated the spectacular performance of the party at the hustings to the Telugu speaking people and unveiled his ambitious plan to develop the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh and fight for justice in the Telangana region. Inaugurating the two-day ‘Mahanadu,’ he said the party’s victory in Seemandhra and its performance in the Telangana had clearly shown that people had accepted the party’s ideology in both the Telugu speaking states.

He also indicated that the party was gearing up to foray into other states.

Naidu announced that in the next five years, the TDP would be converted into a national party and would contest elections whenever held in 5-6 states where substantial numbers of Telugu speaking people were residing. The party could get six per cent of votes which was mandatory to get the status of a national party.

Naidu said, “The party’s agenda is clear. The TDP is committed to eradicate poverty, fight against corruption and deliver good governance.”

Naidu said he did not insist on getting more number of berths in the union cabinet, instead urged him to extend liberal financial support for the development of the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh, adding he had drawn up a vision and a plan to convert Seemandhra into ‘Swarnandhra Pradesh.’

Naidu said, the major task before him was to elevate the residuary state of AP to a level playing field for which generous central assistance was a must. The ‘unjust division’ of the state had landed Seemandhra into deep financial crisis. The assets, debts and employees had been divided on the basis of the population of the two states. This had proved to be disadvantageous for the residuary state.

He sought the help of employees and all sections of people for the construction of the new state. Naidu said, he would develop four cities on par with Hyderabad in Seemandhra if he got required help from all sides, including party workers.

Reiterating that he was committed to fulfil all the promises made by him in the manifesto and during the election campaign, Naidu said that he would waive all loans taken by farmers and would strive to promote agriculture as a profitable profession. He also said that his government would waive loans to women self-help groups and would strive to build a corruption-free state.

Naidu promised to constitute a BC commission to study the inclusion of Kapus in the backward classes’ category within six months and would also fight for getting the Bill passed in Parliament, providing 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies.

As far as the T region was concerned, the TDP president promised to prevail upon the Centre to construct a memorial for former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao in New Delhi. Naidu alleged that the Congress had insulted the Telugu people by not establishing a ghat in the name of Rao in the national capital after his death. He also called upon the rank and file in Telangana to be with the people and force the government to implement all the promises it had made. “We want to achieve Samajika Telangana.”

Taking pot shots at TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, Naidu asked him to create peace and development rooms instead of war rooms.

The need of the hour was to work hard for the development and not fight with each other, he said. The CM-designate of Telangana should take all measures to protect the brand Hyderabad image, Naidu said.
