Tirumala: The TTD Board, which met under the chairmanship of K Bapiraju, on Friday adopted some important resolutions, including approval of Rs.12.85 crore to purchase 30.62 lakh kg rice from the Rice Millers’ Association of Andhra Pradesh required for the next three months (at Rs.42 a kg). It has been decided to appoint 186 outsourcing staff to tackle the emergencies of forest fire atop Seshachalam ranges. The board gave its nod to continue the services of 332 workers in main ‘Potu’ and 140 workers in additional ‘Potu’ for two years.

The board approved Rs 9 crore for the purchase of Bengal gram (22 lakh kg for six months), Rs.1.35 crore to purchase 1.5 lakh kg ghee (for one year), Rs.1.67 crore to purchase 440 tonnes of jaggery at a cost of Rs.38.10 a kg for one year. The Board has approved setting up of 108 inch LED TVs in all 32 compartments of the Vaikuntam queue complex for the benefit of pilgrims. To meet the drinking water requirements of pilgrims and denizens in Tirumala, the Board has decided to buy water from the Tirupati Municipal Corporation. (The TTD requires seven MLD (million litres per day) and for this TTD will pay Rs 85 lakh a month to the corporation, based on its requirements.

The board appreciated the TTD efforts for bringing an income of about Rs.715 crore through the sale of human hair from 2009 till now.

The TTD chairman appealed to the devotees to donate to the Srivari Melchat Vastram abiding by the norms and specifications of the Board.

Executive Officer M G Gopal, Board members Dr N Kannaiah, L R Sivaprasad, Ch Lakshman Rao, R Srinivas, ex-officio members B Venkateswara Rao, N Muktheswara Rao, Venkataramana, TTD JEOs K S Sreenivasa Raju, P Bhaskar, CVSO G Srinivas, Additional FACAO O Balaji, Chief Engineer Chandrasekhar Reddy were present.

Later talking to the media, Bapiraju said the Board has decided to deposit in banks the gold and silver items donated by devotees to the Lord. He clarified that there was no scope for placing restrictions on ‘Divya darshan’ on Saturdays and Sundays.

Gopal said the silver required for selling ‘dollars’ to the devotees would be purchased from MMTC.
