Vijayawada: The officials are racing against time to complete the preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister-designate N Chandrababu Naidu at the grounds opposite Acharya Nagarjuna University. As the swearing-in is to be held on Sunday evening, officials have taken special care to provide lighting at the venue and all along the national highway for the convenience of the people attending the ceremony.

Telugu Desam presidents of Guntur and Krishna districts, P Pulla Rao and Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao respectively visited the venue on Friday and interacted with the officials on the arrangements. They reviewed the arrangements with Guntur district Collector S Suresh Kumar, senior IAS officer Navin Mittal and others and requested them to complete the works by Saturday morning. The security officials, too, have inspected the grounds.

The leaders later have also released the wall poster for the swearing-in ceremony. They said that the party workers would attend in large numbers from Guntur, Prakasam, Krishna and the two Godavari districts, while the leaders from other districts too would participate in the ceremony. The TD leaders said that they would make the event a historic one to raise the morale of the people of the State after the bifurcation.

Meanwhile, the Collectors of Guntur and Krishna have opened special counters in the two districts to monitor the accommodation for the VIPs and other invitees in both the cities. A control room was opened at the Collector’s camp office in Vijayawada to be managed by additional joint collector B L Chennakesava Rao. In Guntur district, too, the administration has opened a control room at the zilla parishad office to monitor the accommodation for the VIPs.

The main dais where Chandrababu Naidu would take his oath of office and secrecy is almost completed. The 480-feet long dais was ready for the event and the officials said that they would give final touches to the dais on Saturday morning, before handing it over to the security officials.

The make-shift tents, too, are ready on the ground. The officials have provided rain-proof tents for the seating of over 5,000 VIPs, besides over 600 media persons. TD leader Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao told media persons that Chandrababu Naidu would sign on the twin files of loan waiver to the farmers and the self-help group women, the two promises that had brought the party to power in the State. He said that Chandrababu Naidu would sign on the two files after taking the oath on Sunday evening.
