Karimnagar/Medak: Fourteen persons were killed in two ghastly road accidents in Karimnagar and Medak districts on Monday. Ten persons, including a newly-married couple and two children, were killed in the first mishap. They were travelling in an autorickshaw to Vemulawada for the ‘darshan’ of God Rajarajeswara Swamy. The trip was to fulfil the vow of the couple, Ramesh of Mamidipall and Anita of Singaram in Jaffargarh mandal of Warangal district. They got married 15 days ago. The auto, packed with passengers more than its capacity, was hit by a speeding lorry near Arepally village in Karimnagar district. The driver of the lorry was drunk and apparently lost control.

Among those killed were Shiva, Sanjay Kumar, Manoj, Komaramallu, Rani, Manuchandra, Hymavati and Kousalya. Karimnagar Superintendent of Police Shivakumar and Joint Collector S Ahmed rushed to the spot. They ordered an investigation.

In the other accident, four members of a family---Budhi Kiran (35), his wife Ramya (30), son Manideep (five) and daughter Nandini (two), of Anantaram village in Shameerpet mandal, were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a car on Rajiv Rahadhari in the morning. The bodies were shifted to the Gajwel government hospital. The accident occurred near Singayapalli in Vargal mandal when Kiran was returning from a visit to his in-law’s house in Gajwel. The car was going to Karimnagar from Hyderabad.
