First AP Cabinet meet at Vizag today

Visakhapatnam: The stage is set for the first meeting of the Andhra Pradesh cabinet which would be held in the Andhra University Executive Council Hall, Senate Hall on Thursday at 11 am. Naidu will arrive here by a special aircraft from Hyderabad.

According to sources, the cabinet is likely to discuss the five issues, waiver of loans for farmers and DWACRA women, Supply of mineral water for Rs 2 per 20 litres in villages, increasing the age limit of Government employees from 58-60, to close down belt shops and increase in pensions for old, widows and physically handicapped. The cabinet is likely to ratify these decisions.

It will also discuss about the first Assembly session and the issues that should be taken up. Naidu will reiterate the need to implement all the important promises within the stipulated time frame. He is likely to impress upon them that the first 100 days would prove to be crucial for the government.

Meanwhile, the Visakha Range DIG P Umapathi accompanied by other officials supervised the bandobust arrangements on the campus and a large posse of police have been deployed at all vulnerable places on the campus. Teams of Sniffer Dog Squad and Bomb Disposal Squad have been pressed into service to sanitise the University campus. The City Traffic Police held a trial run of CM Convoy from the airport to the AU campus on Wednesday.
