Hyderabad: Raising their brows dissent over the facilities available in the state assembly hall being offered to them, the just concluded first session of Andhra Pradesh state assembly wanted to have their own assembly building to be constructed as early as possible. Nevertheless, none of the MLAs bothered to consider the woes of the policemen who have come from various districts of Andhra Pradesh to look after the security near the Andhra Pradesh state assembly.

Reportedly, as many as 500 polices who were on duty were provided accommodation in the nearby police stations like Saifabad and Gandhi Nagar for name sake. Nevertheless, they were not provided with any food; and the police have to make their own arrangements for the same. Reportedly, each individual cop has spent almost 2000/- for the first assembly session. Also, they had to face many hidden discomforts like lack of adequate number of toilets and bath rooms. As there was no other option left, few cops stayed with their relatives in Hyderabad, while few others went to police quarters and stayed there after paying a nominal fee.

The state government should feel responsible for all such lapses. After all, the police have come all the way in protection of the representatives of the people. It was the first session of the state assembly, so, the lapses could be neglected unseen. But, the repetition is not solicited.
