RI, 4 Others Killed as Speeding Lorry Runs Amok, Five employees of the Revenue department of the district died on the spot and ten others, including Tahsildar Sunita Bai of Orvakallu mandal, sustained serious injuries after a silica sand-laden lorry ran over them while they were waiting for the arrival of the district collector at Nannuru in Orvakallu mandal on Wednesday.

Kurnool: Five employees of the Revenue department of the district died on the spot and ten others, including Tahsildar Sunita Bai of Orvakallu mandal, sustained serious injuries after a silica sand-laden lorry ran over them while they were waiting for the arrival of the district collector at Nannuru in Orvakallu mandal on Wednesday.
The Revenue employees were waiting for District Collector C Sudarsan Reddy to inspect some lands at Nannuru village when the mishap occurred.
The lorry with the load of silica sand ran over the employees who were standing by the side of the road. Three persons died on the spot and two others died later in the hospital. The condition of tahsildar of Orvakallu Sunita Bai was admitted to Kurnool Government Hospital where her condition said to be serious. Later, she was shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment.
The deceased included Orvakallu Revenue Inspector Srinivasulu, village servants Sivaramudu, Ramakrishna, Venkateswarlu and Gopal. District Collector Sudarsan Reddy, Panyam MLA Gowru Charita Reddy, Revenue Officer Venugopal Reddy and others called on the injured in the Kurnool Government Hospital. However, it is yet to be ascertained whether it was an accident or any conspiracy was behind the incident. Police have taken the accused into custody and investigating.
