It may be mentioned here that the AP government has been fighting for allocation of additional power to meet the requirements. The AP State government had complained that the State was meted out injustice in allocation of power.

Centre informed the State that it would supply 65 MW additional power from the CGS. The Coal India Limited also allotted 4 lakh tones of coal to meet the requirement of fuel for the thermal projects in the new state.

The fossil fuel would be supplied from Western Coal fields, State Information and Public Relations Minister P Raghunath Reddy told reporters here on Saturday.
The issue prominently figured at the Saturday’s State Cabinet meeting. The Minister said the Cabinet had cleared the proposal to purchase 350 MW power from Tamil Nadu.

Naidu was informed that the works at Krishnapatnam thermal project with an installed capacity of 800 MW and Hinduja project with 100 MW installed capacity would be completed on a war footing and power generation would begin from August. To avoid scarcity of coal, Naidu instructed the Energy department to ensure the availability of coal stocks for at least for 20 days at every thermal project.
