Hyderabad: Based on the latest statistical conclusion of the India Meteorological Department, it is a blatant meteorological deficit of rainfall in Coastal Andhra with 69 per cent departure from LPA, accounting for scanty rainfall while Rayalaseema with nine per cent departure from LPA, shows a normal rainfall.

The actual rainfall recorded in all the two regions from June 1 to June 28, 2014 stands at 33 in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and 60.2 in Rayalaseema. Whereas the normal recorded data is measured at 98.8 in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and 60.2 in Rayalseema.

From the other end, the overall seasonal rainfall of the Southern Peninsula stands at 36 per cent a departure from a Long Period Average. The percentage departure is arrived at by getting the difference between the actual rainfall and the normal recorded and then getting the percent departure. This particular instance is specified to be a meteorological drought because it is measured on the standard data as measured by the data available.
