Lokmanya Tilak Express catches fire

On Wednesday, the luggage compartment in Lokmanya Tilak express caught fire in between the Nidadavolu and Tadepalligudem stations in West Godavari district. The staff became alert at once and put out the fire timely, preventing it from further spreading. More details are awaited.

It is worth recollecting that a similar incident on June 14 took place when all of sudden fire broke out from the engine of Macherla-Bheemavaram passenger train. The attentive railway staff halted the train at Gudipudi of Sattenappali mandal in Guntur district. There was neither any loss of property nor the lives of the passengers reported in this incident. In general, the AC bogies and engines catch fire in case of accidents. Nobody is aware of the outside happenings. The reports submitted by the experts after the investigations are simply gathering dust in the record rooms. No preventive action has been taken, as a lesson learnt from the previous accidents.

Who is to be blamed - the railways authorities or the technicians? As far as the technicians are concerned, they are of the opinion that poor quality of cables and components are being supplied for both internal and external repairs, which is likely to lead for the accidents.
