Bhaskar ReddyGiddalur (Prakasam District): Activists of YSRCP on Tuesday staged a demonstration before Giddalur police station demanding dismissal of SI Y Srinivasa Rao for causing the death of YJ Bhaskar Reddy, president, Prakasam district cooperative society, in the station after the SI allegedly pushed Reddy. Reddy had gone to the police station to intervene in a row over parking space between Subba Rao and Dr D G Harinath Reddy, both residents of an apartment complex in Panduranga Reddy Nagar, here. It is said that the death was caused due to a heart attack.

The demonstrators, led by local MLA Ashok Reddy, have set fire to a police jeep. Pramod Kumar, SP, who visited the police station, entrusted the SI’s case to Nellore DSP Rambabu. The trouble arose following the row over parking of a vehicle between Subba Rao and Dr Harinath Reddy. Dr Reddy’s father, Raja Reddy of Kurnool, had parked his car in the space allotted to Subba Rao. This led to arguments between Rao and Reddy and police intervention after Rao telephoned the SI. The SI allegedly abused both Harinath Reddy and his wife in the police station and asked YJ Bhaskar Reddy to stay out, before rudely pushing him.
