Andhra Pradesh to Get International Airport Soon!!. An expert team from the Airports Authority of India will soon visit Andhra Pradesh to inspect places like Tirupati, Vishakapatnam and Vijayawada to find out if they will be suitable to construct an international airport, reportedly.
Hyderabad: If the buzz is to be believed, Andhra Pradesh will get an International Airport, very soon. An expert team from the Airports Authority of India will soon visit Andhra Pradesh to inspect places like Tirupati, Vishakapatnam and Vijayawada to find out if they will be suitable to construct an international airport, reportedly. The only International Airport that the United Andhra Pradesh had in it went into the quota of Telangana. Also, during the state bifurcation, the Centre has promised three international airports to Andhra Pradesh in the AP Reorganisations Act. It is learnt that the inspection will be undertaken to find the feasibilities for the establishment of the new International Airport.
For any International airport, a minimum of 9,000 metres of runway is required. Sources added that the officials have acquired some lands in three places which may be suitable for construction of the International Airport.
It is worth mentioning here that most states in India have only one international airport. A few states have two while states negligible in number have more than that. If these three places are deemed fit for construction, Andhra Pradesh will find place in the cream of the crop list.
Being Ashok Gajapathi Raju, the Union Civil Aviation Minister, it would not be difficult for Andhra Pradesh getting the work hastened up!! So, soon Andhra Pradesh may have its International Airport.
