Hyderabad: The cash-strapped AP government on Saturday installed a ‘hundi’ to enable visitors to the Secretariat to donate funds for construction of new state capital. Incidentally, the hundi is set up at the entrance of the ‘L’ Block which will house the chambers of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao.

A ‘Hundi’ has been set up near the lift of ‘L’ Block of the AP Secretariat. The Block will have the offices of Chief Minister and Chief Secretary

Made of steel, the hundi is attracting many visitors. ‘ Nutana Rajadhani Nirmananiki Viralala Nimittam’ (Seeking donations for the construction of new capital) is written on the hundi.

Sources said that the hundi would be opened every evening and the money would be deposited in the government account. It may be recalled that the Naidu government has already created a separate account under the Chief Minister’s Fund, seeking liberal donations from Telugu people living across the world for the cause. On the need for hundi, an official said those coming to meet the Chief Minister or Ministers have been contributing ornaments or cash for the cause of capital.To ensure proper accounting of every contribution, the government has decided to keep the hundi, he added.
