Anna canteens in four dists soon, AP government on Sunday decided to open 35 ‘Anna canteens\' providing subsidised food for poor in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Guntur and Anantapur districts on a pilot project soon.
Hyderabad: The AP government on Sunday decided to open 35 ‘Anna canteens' providing subsidised food for poor in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Guntur and Anantapur districts on a pilot project soon.
As per the initial plans, the scheme would provide nutritious food to 10,500 persons per day in the four districts at a cost of Rs 160 crore, a Minister said, adding that an official agency to take up the scheme would be finalised in the Cabinet meeting on Monday.
The Cabinet sub-committee on the canteens held a meeting here to finalise modalities for the implementation of the scheme. The committee members Civil Supplies Minister P Sunitha, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA and UD) Minister P Narayana and Agriculture Minister P Pulla Rao decided to take up the scheme in a phased manner across the State.
