T students attend EAMCET counselling in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: With a significant delay in starting the counselling procedure for EAMCET-2014 in Telangana, several non-local students are getting their certificates verified at the counselling centres here.Though the officials are unwilling to reveal the complete details, several students from Telangana State have also attended counselling here and submitted their certificates for verification as the Telangana government is yet to decide on counselling.

Most of the Intermediate students who hail from various parts of Telangana region, and finished their Plus Two education appeared for EAMCET in the city. Since the Telangana government sought more time to begin counselling procedure, the non-local students (who were residing at different places in Telangana) have come down to the city for verification process.Later, when the government begins the web options procedure, they can exercise their choice in selecting the colleges.

V Sulochana, parent of V Harika from Madhira, Khammam district, appeared for certificates verification process at Andhra Loyola College. Sulochana said, “Harika studied Intermediate in a local college. We wanted our girl to get admission into a college in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, owing to the delay in the beginning of counselling procedure in Telangana, we decided to get the certificate verification done here.” K Vardhani, another parent said, “When Telangana begins counselling, there would be a huge rush for verification process. In-charge of certification verification programme at ALC, M Srirangam said, 'The non-local students regularly attend the process in Vijayawada, but it cannot be appropriately mentioned about how many of them got their verification done. Once the schedule for web options is announced, the non-locals would exercise their options or appear for verification and counseling at their own places.”

Despite a dull start to the certificate verification process in the city at the three centres, there has been a steady increase in the number of students attending the verification process. They are hoping to secure seats in colleges of their choice.
