Hyderabad: The ongoing rumblings within the TDP in regard to the location of new capital of Andhra Pradesh do not seem to come to an end even after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked his Ministers not to air their opinion publicly.

The noise within the party particularly for and against Vijayawada seems to be getting louder. Following the statement of Deputy Chief Minisiter K E Krishnamurthy that enough government land was not available in Vijayawada, and the manner in which he released the figures showing how much land was available in which part of the State indicating that Rayalaseema region was better suited in terms of availability of land seems to have irked another Minister and close aide of Naidu. Minister for Forests Bojjala Gopala Krishna Reddy speaking to reporters in Guntur district fired indirect salvos at KE Krishnamurthy saying that it was not appropriate for Ministers to think in such a manner that the capital would be set up in their native districts only.

He went further and made a sarcastic remark at the Deputy Chief Minister saying, “Every Minister is demanding that the new capital be located in the backyard of their residences. It is not proper to think like that. Capital city can be located only at a place where water and government lands are available.”

As the issue is snowballing into a major controversy, Chief Minister Naidu on Thursday stepped in and tried to do some damage controlling.

“We have not yet decided where to locate the new capital. We are examining all aspects that would be suitable for locating it. We have not yet finalised even Vijayawada,” he made it clear.
