Rajahmundry airport, AIIMS to be named after him

Hyderabad/Nellore/Tirupati/Ongole/Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday participated in the 142nd jayanti celebrations of Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu. He garlanded Prakasam’s statue in the Assembly compound. Several ministers and TDP legislators attended.
AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Council Chairman Chakrapani, Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and others paying tributes to Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu on his 142nd birth anniversary in Hyderabad on Saturday.  Naidu announced that Rajahmundry airport and the proposed AIIMS would be named after Prakasam.
The Assembly paid tributes to Prakasam, with Naidu describing the late leader as an inspiration for future generations. The CM praised him for ushering in land reforms. He announced that the Rajahmundry airport would be named after Prakasam, as also the proposed AIIMS in the State.

Participating in the jayanti in Nellore, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu advised youth to take Prakasam as their inspiration. He promised to secure Central funds for the Nellore municipality to take up development schemes. He said so far Rs.1,000 crore has been released for the town’s underground drainage and drinking water supply. Collector N Srikanth, Mayor Abdul Azeez were present.

In Titupati BJP national vice-president B Dattatreya garlanded Prakasam statue near S V University and recalled his services. He said the Centre would render equal justice to both AP and Telangana. Dattatreya asserted that he would continue to work for the party without eying a berth in the Union Cabinet. He favoured frequent meetings between the two CMs to move on the development path.

In Ongole Transport Minister S Raghava Rao and State Adviser Parakala Prabhakar, Prakasam Collector attended the jayanti in the collectorate. The minister recalled the services of the first CM of Andhra State, without any selfish motive. Prabhakar said schemes were being finalized to make the district an industrial hub. Several officials, freedom fighters and intellectuals garlanded a portrait of Prakasam. A photo exhibition and cultural programmes were organised. Several freedom fighters were felicitated. In Rajahmundry Mayor Pantam Rajani Seshasai paid floral tributes to Prakasam at his statue in Prakash Nagar Park. She said though Tanguturi was not born here, he had bonds with the town. Everyone should emulate Prakasam who was Rajahmundry civic body’s first chairman.
