Hyderabad: Refusing to either apologise to the House or withdraw his "unparliamentary" remark made on Friday, leader of opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy staged a walk-out from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly even as Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao and Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu sought to end the pandemonium.
YSRCP MLAs, led by party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, protesting at the Gandhi statute on the Assembly premises in Hyderabad on Saturday. They charged the TDP with murdering their party workers and also accused it of eliminating Congress MLA Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga Rao in 1988
Before staging a walk out, Jagan sought to cast aspersions on the Speaker. He said that democracy was being murdered in the State Assembly and the Speaker has been discriminating against the YSRCP party members. He alleged that their voice was being muzzled by the chair. This led to another round of uproar in the Assembly and the Speaker took strong objection to the behaviour of the leader of opposition. The Speaker said it was not proper on the part of Jagan to make such remarks. He said the leader of the opposition has been given time whenever he asked for and assured them that they would be given time to respond to the charges made by the ruling party members.

As Jagan continued to give vent to his anger, the Speaker said that he failed to understand why he was getting so agitated. He further said, "The ruling party members are seeking an apology. I have asked you to withdraw your remark. It will not go into the record. I leave it to your wisdom," the Speaker told Jagan.

As the YSRCP members continued to argue with the chair, the Speaker remarked, ‘You cannot dictate to the chair.’ At this point, the main opposition party staged a walk-out in protest alleging that the Speaker was not acting impartially. The Legislative Affairs Minister said the Opposition leader need not be egoistic and could have apologised to the House or withdrawn the unparliamentary remark. There were instances in the past when even members who were considered stalwarts withdrew their remarks if they were wrong, he said. Later when the short duration discussion on law and order resumed, TDP and BJP members launched a frontal attack on Jagan, accusing him of trying to apply terror tactics in the House. BJP member Vishnu Kumar Raju suggested that Jagan take a 15-day break to "cool his mind" and come back to the House. "If required, I will personally go to Jagan and request him to be restrained. He can't terrorise the House or the members," the BJP legislator said, as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other members burst into laughter.
