Nara Chandrababu NaiduIn a move to develop air traffic in the state, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababau Naidu has come up with several plans to woo international air lines. The government is busy considering a tax relaxation on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) in the state. The CM proposing that the present tax of 12% may be trimmed down to as low as 1%.

If this proposal materialised, the air traffic in the region will increase, which positively affect the tourism. The government is firm on encouraging business tourism in the state.

After meeting with top officials of international airlines like Spice Jet, Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines and Indigo etc, in Delhi, Chandrababu Naidu said that he would be planning to cut short in the tax on ATF. This decision may affect the revenue of the state but the aviation sector would receive a great boom.

The other states in the country are imposing tax on ATF varying from 4% to 30%. By reducing it to a minimal, more number of flights would come to the state for filling. They would change their routes accordingly. Presently only Visakhapatnam airport has this filling facility. Government is planning to extend this facility to other important airports in the state.

One of the airlines has already consented to operate its services to the airports, if they are developed.
