EAMCET medical counseling Rs 1 lakh penalty if student rejects seat.

Political Pitch

EAMCET 2014 counselling for admission to MBBS, BDS and Pharmacy courses in colleges across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the academic year 2014-15 started at 9 am on Saturday in five centers, three in Andhra Pradesh and two in Telangana.

Resolving all the confusions on Medical counselling in AP and Telangana State, both the newly formed state governments have cleared the issues regarding fee structure for private medical colleges. This year, both the governments have decided to go with the old fee structure of last year for all the private medical colleges in both the states.
Reportedly, the counseling started with respective representatives in the centres. However, there is some confusion among parents of Medical students regarding the procedure of paying the penaltuy of Rs 1 Lakh. The rule goes that if a candidiate cancels an alloted seat, then he has to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Naturally, parents aren’t comfortable with the idea of losing money.
There was also a complaint from one of the centers that a student was sent back to get the original certificates to proceed with the counseling. The student has earned 19th rank in the entrance exam under Medical category.
Putta Srinivas, Director of Medical Education for Telangana clarified, “if the seat is cancelled intentionally without a reason. The student will be fined Rs 1 Lakh.”
On other side in AP, though the counseling started on time, there was a conflict between the police and the PDSU. The students of Progressive Democratic Union were demanding that the government withdraws the quota of 15% to the NRIs for the Medical entrance test. They submitted memorandum to this effect.
