Hyderabad: YSR Congress party has resolved to launch a massive agitation to mount pressure on the TDP government for implementing its electoral promises like waiver of farm loan and loans for DWCRA women groups.

A decision to this effect was taken at a State-level extending meeting held under the chairmanship of YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy here on Tuesday. The meeting also had chalked out a strategy to strengthen the party from grassroots.

Briefing the media on the deliberation in the meeting, party senior leaders Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Vasireddy Padma and Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy said the party would launch agitation to highlight the failure of the government first at mandal level. The agitation would be intensified later, depending on the response from the powers-that- be. An action programme with Jaganmohan Reddy in the lead had also been prepared, the leaders said.

State-level committees earlier were formed for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well.

Initially, the focus will be on strengthening the organisational structure from village and ward level. The party had also prepared a strategy to strengthen party’s wings like student, women, SC, BC and others. At each level the Party would appoint observers from outside who would coordinate activities with local leaders to strengthen the party in all constituencies, they said. The government had meted out raw deal, they said.
