Visakhapatnam: The Hudhud Cyclone has changed its direction and is heading towards Visakhapatnam. Earlier it was centred between the Andhra-Odisha border.

The latest forecast says it is likely to cross coastline at Visakhapatnam on October 12. The winds may gust up to 150 Kmph. All areas along coastline have been put on high alert. The district administration has issued second warning and Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.

The deep depression was intensified into a cyclonic storm and crossed Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Wednesday. It is moving north- westerly direction towards Andhra-Odisha coast. This cyclonic storm is likely to intensify further into severe cyclone.

Hudhud will be the first cyclonic storm in the years’ cyclonic season between October and December. Hudhud also happens to be originated from around the same region where cyclone Phalian had originated last year. Even though it is not as severe as Phalian, but it is same category, the IMD officials said.
