Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government is mulling to give 40 per cent of the developed land under land pooling system to farmers if they agree to part with their lands for construction of the new capital city. Apart from giving 40 per cent of the developed land to farmers, the government also wants to pay Rs 25,000 compensation per annum for each acre of land for a period of 10 years. In addition, they will also be given exemption of stamp duty in case they buy land elsewhere in the State. For those farmers, who will surrender “assigned lands” being cultivated by them to the government, will be given 30 per cent of the developed land.

According to officials, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a two-hour-long meeting with Group of Ministers (GoM) on land pooling on Saturday and decided to procure 30,000 acres of land from farmers under land pooling system in the first phase.

Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy told reporters the GoM on land pooling, headed by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, would tour Krishna and Guntur districts after the cyclone relief works were over, most probably from October 17, to elicit the views of the local farmers and to design a formula on land pooling system.
