Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who is on a three-day exploratory visit to Singapore held discussion with officials about the river management, river cleaning system that is in vogue in Singapore and how the river in Singapore has been converted into a maritime hub.

Naidu, according to K Lakshminarayana, director APSSDC and member of the delegation, interacted with the officials of SPA port. Naidu was briefed about the functioning of the port. He said Naidu also went on a river cruise from Clarke Quay to Marina Bay. He also studied about the night life in Singapore so that he can work out strategies to develop the new capital city in Andhra Pradesh in such a manner that it would attract good foreign investments.

Lakshminarayana said Naidu first met S Iswaran, Second Minister of Trade and Industry Singapore, where both leaders exchanged views on developing trade and business relations between Andhra Pradesh and Singapore.

Naidu explained the vast opportunities available in Andhra Pradesh and dwelled on the proposal to develop several ports along 1000 km-long coast of the residual state of Andhra Pradesh. The CM also explained to the Singapore Minister how AP was now in a position to supply 24x7 power, the rail and road network and the human resources it has in the State.

Later, Naidu visited the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) and met Lim See Keng, Executive Director of the centre and discussed his plans to develop mega cities and smart cities in Andhra Pradesh. He also sought details about the philosophy of CLC and how Singapore managed to overcome the challenges that were thrown up by urbanisation. It is learnt that Khoo Teng Chye who is also an expert in CLC gave a detailed presentation about the best urban planning practices adapted in the City-State.

Naidu also met experts from Public Utilities Board (PUB), which is the sole body responsible for the collection, production, distribution and reclamation of water in the city.
