Speaking to media persons here, he said that the Labour Department should focus on effective enforcement of the Minimum Wages Act. Social welfare benefits should be extended to the workers of the unorganised sector. “The TDP, which promised to implement pro-worker policies during its election campaign, has failed to take any concrete measures in this regard even six months after coming to power. There is no social security for workers of the unorganised sector. The pro-corporate policies of the TDP Government are helping the employers exploit workers,” he said.

Ranganayakulu informed that the city AITUC convention held on November 29 elected KS Rao as its president. The other executive members are: Palla Surya Rao (honorary president), S Durga Rao (working president), D Ramudu, R Durga Rao, M Subbaiah, P V Krishnam Raju, J James and D Ramanamma (vice-presidents), N Durga Rao, C Satyanarayana, Thota Prakash, Ch V Ramana, C Sri Ramachandra Murthy, BP Nandam and V Mahesh (secretaries) and JV Rao (treasurer).
