Hyderabad: The World Bank has come forward to provide assistance in rehabilitation and construction of infrastructure in the Hudhud-affected areas of Visakhapatnam district. During a meeting with the Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao on Wednesday, World Bank Country Director Omno Rahl and Country Director of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Theresakho said they were on a mission to assess damages caused by the cyclone Hudhud and to offer assistance for rehabilitation and construction of infrastructures.

World Bank and ADB officials promised to take the dialogue further and prepare a roadmap for assisting the Cyclone-affected areas with special focus on priority areas suggested by the Andhra Pradesh government. The World Bank team lead by Tarun Bajaj, Jt. Secretary (MI), Department of Economic Affairs, participated in an hour-long presentation by Secretaries on rehabilitation works of cyclone Hudhud in the State.

The Chief Secretary convened a meeting of Secretaries of all departments connected with the rehabilitation and relief works of cyclone Hudhud to appraise the World Bank delegation on the task ahead. Senior officials of the Energy, Infrastructure, Housing, R&B, Forest, MA&UD, Panchayat Raj, Irrigation, etc. made presentations on the impact of Hudhud and loss of public property in the State.
