Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to take the initiative and try to broker peace between the two Telugu-speaking states Telangana and Andhra Pradesh after the Chief Ministers’ conference scheduled to be held on Sunday.

Sources in Delhi say that Modi may hold a meeting with both the Chief Ministers and will discuss about contentious issues like holding of joint examination, sharing of power, water and other resources. While TS Chief Minister KCR left for New Delhi on Friday night, Naidu will be going to Delhi on Saturday evening.

KCR left early so that he could meet the Union Ministers for irrigation, power, home and finance and draw their attention towards the teething problems being faced by his administration due to delay in allocation of AIS officers, refusal of AP government to give 54 per cent of power share as stipulated in AP Reorganisation Act and confusion regarding institutions in Ninth and Tenth Schedule among others.

KCR is also trying for appointment with the Prime Minister so that he could apprise him about the non-cooperation from Andhra Pradesh. He will urge the Centre to lend assistance to a few of its schemes like tanks revival and drinking water grid.

According to special representative in Delhi S Venugopalachari, Chandrashekar Rao will request Power Minister Piyush Goyal’s help in overcoming power shortage besides urging him to expedite clearances for NTPC plant in Ramagundam. Rao would also meet Nitin Gadkari and request him to release funds for improving existing roads and improve road connectivity in rural areas.
