Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said his party would emerge as a strong political alternative in Telangana before 2019 election. Participating in the party’s extended meeting of the Telangana unit at its head office NTR Trust Bhavan, he said the TDP would come to power in Telangana in the next elections as people realised that the ruling TRS and Opposition Congress failed to discharge their duties.

As the TDP already had strong cadre in Telangana State, the recent membership drive in Telangana received overwhelming response which was clear indication that people would give mandate to the party in next elections. Taking strong exception to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's wild allegations against him over power and water sharing issues, the party president said he was not against the development of Telangana.

His party was the only political organisation that transformed Telangana into a developing region by promoting Hyderabad as Hitech city during the TDP rule. Naidu, who was also the united AP Chief Minister, claimed if Telangana had surplus budget, it was only because of the efforts made by TDP government in the past.

He congratulated the party leaders of Khammam district for registering highest membership among other districts. Mahabubnagar stood in the second place and Warangal and Nalgonda occupied the third and the fourth positions in the membership drive launched recently. Naidu's son Lokesh was also present in the meeting attended by the Telangana TDP leaders E Dayakar Rao, L Ramana and others.
