Mr Haribabu is the first MP in Andhra Pradesh to implement the idea with the theme ‘Your Ideas Can Change Our Society’. The scheme would inspire people to find innovative solutions to social and developmental problems with the MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds.

Under the scheme, students and people would receive cash awards for the first, second and third best innovative solutions through their MPLADS funds. Mr Haribabu said each MP was entitled to sanction Rs 5 crore MPLADS fund every year and the main aim of the contest was to show how to utilise the MPLADS fund for maximum benefit of the people.

The contest would be held in three categories – Junior (students from Class VII to Intermediate), Senior (undergraduate and post-graduate courses students), Open (for the common man).

Innovative social idea written in 150 words could be submitted through e-mail to onemponeideavizag@ gmail.com or in person at Gitam Institute of Management. The creator of the shortlisted unique idea would be invited for a five-minute oral presentation before a panel of judges. Gitam University, Vijay Nirman Company Private Limited and Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan were the knowledge partners of the contest. “The final date for submission of the ideas is December 31, 2014,” he added.

Based on the innovative ideas received from the people regarding developmental projects in Vizag Parliamentary constituency, the solutions would be evaluated by a selection committee to select the three best innovations from each category for cash awards. The total cash prize would be Rs 2.25 lakh. The solutions would be evaluated by a selection committee.
