Singapore delegation to visit Thulluru, The State government is going ahead with the project though majority of farmers are not willing to part with their fertile lands for the capital city.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will announce a category specific compensatory package for the farmers, who will give their agricultural lands for the new capital and will also make public a preview of the blueprint being prepared by the Singapore government for the new capital city, according to sources.

Naidu who would be completing six months in office on Monday will also have a detailed discussion with S Eswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore, over the master plan for the capital city and the modifications that need to be made to the blueprint to suit local requirement.

It is also learnt that the Singapore's Centre for Livable Cities (CLC) executive director Khoo Teng Chye would come to Hyderabad for a three-day visit to the State in the next couple of days. As Singapore government recently appointed Khoo as its nominee for the project to design and construct the new capital city, he is expected to have guided tour across the 29 villages that were selected for the construction of the new capital.

The State government is going ahead with the project though majority of farmers are not willing to part with their fertile lands for the capital city. A round-table held in Vijayawada on Saturday resolved to put up a stiff resistance to the government’s move to “snatch” the fertile lands. The action on the part of Naidu to entrust the task of preparing blueprint for capital to Singapore also came under sharp criticism.
