Anantapur: The State government’s main aim was to provide corporate medical services to the poor, stated IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and Member of Parliament JC Diwakar Reddy. The two leaders along with other district officials reviewed the decisions taken during the last meeting and their implementation at the Hospital Development Society (HDS) review meeting held here on Monday. The Minister enquired with the officials about the problems prevailing in the government hospital.

The Minister directed the officials to submit a report on the requirements, on priority basis so that they could develop the hospital as a model. Responding to the request of the hospital senior officials about the requirement of specialists in neurosurgery and cardiology departments, the Minister assured them that the specialists would be appointed after discussing the issue in the cabinet meeting slated for December 15. Meanwhile, he directed the hospital superintendent to utilise the services of the specialists locally available.

Stating that the patients from all over the district would come to the hospital, Raghunatha Reddy directed the hospital superintendent to tour the entire hospital at 9 am everyday to interact with the doctors and other staff. He suggested that the doctors should do service to the patients leaving aside their differences, if any.

Diwakar Reddy reminded the doctors that the public respect them as next to God. He appealed to them to maintain that respect by providing better services to the patients. The Collector has been holding meetings three times in a month evincing special interest on the hospital development, he added. The MP told the hospital officials to clean all the wards and toilets with chemicals. He instructed the officials to submit a report on the apparatus and other items needed for the hospital. He assured them that the power problem in the hospital would be solved soon.

Later speaking to the media, Minister Raghunatha Reddy said that he would bring to the notice of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu about the problems prevailing in the hospital and staff crunch.

District Collector Solomon Arokia Raj, Mayor M Swaroopa, Hospital Superintendent Dr Venkateswarlu, RMO Padmavathi, doctors and others participated in the review meeting.
