Demands passage of the bill in Parliament winter session

Vijayawada: The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) AP unit president, Perupogu Venkateswara Rao Madiga, on Monday demanded Chief Ministers of AP and Telangana N Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao to ensure the passage of SC Categorisation Bill in the winter session of Parliament by building pressure on the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.

Speaking to newsmen at the Press Club here, he said the MRPS would organise ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ at Indira Park in Hyderabad on December 18 demanding categorisation of SCs to safeguard the interests of Madigas in both the States. Chandrababu Naidu, who stated during his election campaign that categorisation of SCs was imperative for the benefit of cobblers to rewrite history, should prevail upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi and get the SC Categorisation Bill passed in the Parliament session, the MRPS leader said. He also demanded that the State Government should improve the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in the State for the benefit of SCs.

Other demands of the MRPS include effective implementation of GO 183 to ensure that the SC sub-castes get all the benefits of welfare schemes and restoration of the age limit for provision of loans to SCs to 58 from 48 years at low rates of interest through the SC Corporation for setting up of small business units.

MRPS Mahila AP unit president N Chandraleela Madiga, secretary M Nageswara Rao, district unit president Subhashini Madiga and city unit Mahila president Nagamani Madiga were present.
