Tirupati MLA M Venkataramana died of prolonged illness at a Chennai hospital in the wee hours of Monday. He was 67. He is survived by wife and two daughters. According to sources, it was his third by-pass surgery which appeared to have failed.

Hyderabad: Tirupati MLA M Venkataramana died of prolonged illness at a Chennai hospital in the wee hours of Monday. He was 67. He is survived by wife and two daughters. According to sources, it was his third by-pass surgery which appeared to have failed.

Venkataramana switched over to the TDP from the Congress during the last Assembly elections and secured party ticket from prestigious Tirupati Assembly constituency. He had also served as the Chairman of Tirupati Urban Development Authority.

The State government ordered a state funeral with police honors for him, which would be conducted in Tirupati on Tuesday. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Leader of the Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, APCC President N Raghuveera Reddy, TDP leader Nara Lokesh and other leaders expressed deep condolences over his death.
