All-India Major Ports Athletics Championships conclude today

Visakhapatnam: At the end of the second day of All-India Major Ports Athletics Championships (men, women and children) being held at the Visakhapatnam Ports Sports and Cultural Complex on Wednesday, host Visakhapatnam Port Trust men’s team was leading with 75 points by winning two gold, six silver and three bronze medals.

Defending champions VOC Port (Tuticorin) was in the second position with 70 points by securing six gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Mumbai Port was in the third position with 47 points (three gold, two silver, and one bronze).

In the women’s section, defending champions Chennai Port was leading with 59 points by winning two gold, five silver and three bronze medals. Visakhapatnam Port was in the second position with 48 points (two gold, two silver and four bronze), while Paradip Port was in the third position with 40 points (four gold and one bronze).

The championship will conclude on Thursday and the valedictory will be held at 3.30 pm. VPT chairman MT Krishna Babu will be the chief guest. M Padmavalli, president, Sarada Mahila Samajam, Visakhapatnam Port Trust, will present trophies to the winners.

Port sports officer MV Manikyalu will preside over the meeting.
