Hyderabad: APTransport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao on Monday said the government was implementing a detailed plan on preventing road accidents by systemically identifying black spots across highways and major roads. The Minister was responding to a Zero Hour question by YSR Congress Party member Bhuma Akhila Priya, daughter of late Shobha Nagi Reddy who lost her life in a ghastly road accident.

Speaking for the first time in the Assembly after being elected as a member, Akhila Priya said it was actually a sad moment for her, as she was elected as an MLA in her mother’s place. She said her mother’s death was an example of the grave need to make roads and highways safe and the need to take up effective measures for preventing accidents.

She said a small stretch of road between Chagalamarri and Nandyal has witnessed more than hundred accidents within one year. She further pointed out that patch holes and potholes were seen even on highways, which need utmost attention of the government.
