CPI lambasts CM for not lending ear to Oppn

Vijayawada: CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna here on Thursday came down heavily on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for taking “unilateral” decisions on several important policy matters in the just-concluded Assembly session without considering the views of opposition YSR Congress Party for the development of the State.

Speaking to mediapersons at Dasari Nagabhushana Rao Bhavan here, Ramakrishna alleged that the Chief Minister was pointlessly officious on important matter regarding acquisition of land for capital city. Naidu had even refused to listen to opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and take the views of the Opposition into consideration. There was no meaningful discussion on people’s problems in the Assembly. The ruling Telugu Desam and opposition YSR Congress leaders wasted lot of time by making charges and counter-charges against each other without discussing key issues, he said.

The CPI leader said Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu had failed to get special category status for the State as promised by the Centre even six months after bifurcation of the State for its economic growth. The BJP leaders were organising felicitation functions for Venkaiah Naidu during his frequent visits to the State though he did virtually nothing for the economic development of AP despite holding an important portfolio at the Centre. “Venkaiah Naidu has no moral right to continue in the minister post if he cannot get special category status accorded to AP immediately,’’ Ramakrishna said.

Former MLC Jelli Wilson and CPI State leader R Venkaiah were also present at the news conference.
