Nellore: Vaikuntha Ekadasi was celebrated with great devotional fervour with thousands of devotees thronging Sri Ranganathaswami temple, Rajarajeswari temple and Sivalayam at Moolapet from the early hours of Thursday to offer special prayers. As there was no special queue line for the elderly people, they had to face a lot of hardships. Devotees also thronged the Venkateswara Swamy temple in Konda Bitragunta village in the district.
New Year was also celebrated in various Churches in the city. Security was beefed up and no untoward incidents were reported.

Kadapa: With the New Year and the Vaikuntha Ekadasi falling on the same day, there was a huge influx of devotees at the temple of Lord Venkateswara at Devuni Gadapa in the district from 4 am on Thursday. About 10,000 TTD laddu prasadam was sold out by 8 am. Hundreds of devotees offered prayers at Ontimitta Srikodanda Ramalayam, Soumyanatha Swamy temple in Nandaluru, Gandi Anjaneyaswamy temple near Papagni River and other temples in the district.

Mantralayam (Kurnool): Vaikuntha Ekadasi was celebrated with great devotional fervor at the temple of Lord Venkateswara which was constructed during the time of Sri Raghavendra Swamy and inaugurated by him. The pontiff of Raghavendra Matham Subhadendra Tirtha opened the Vaikuntha Dwaram of the temple on Thursday.

Srisailam: Thousands of devotees thronged the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjunaswamy temple in the town on Thursday. They entered the temple through the northern entrance. The Utsav idols were taken around the streets in a procession.

Puttaparthi: New Year was celebrated amidt great fanfare and gaiety in at Prasanti Nilayam in the town on Thursday. A cultural programme was organised by the students in the Satya Sai Kulwanth Hall on Thursday.
