In a bizarre incident, one worker was killed and seven others, loading sugar bags into vehicles, were injured in Etikoppaka Co-op Sugar Factory at Darlapudi, in S Rayavaram mandal, on Saturday night.
Payakaraopet (Visakhapatnam): In a bizarre incident, one worker was killed and seven others, loading sugar bags into vehicles, were injured in Etikoppaka Co-op Sugar Factory at Darlapudi, in S Rayavaram mandal, on Saturday night.
The incident occurred when a huge lot of sugar bags fell on the workers, who were trapped. When they raised an alarm, nearby kalasis removed the bags. Kasireddy Manikyam (46) was killed. The injured were shifted to the Nakkapalli government hospital. Mylapalli Seshu and G Nookaraju were moved to a corporate hospital in Visakhapatnam as their condition was critical.
Factory Managing Director K R Victor Raju and Chairman Raju Saagi Ramabhadra Raju monitored the rescue measures. They assured that the management would help the injured in all respects. Inspector Malleswara Rao and SI Srinivasa Rao visited the spot. The police registered a case.
