Kakinada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the District Collectors to take appropriate steps and ensure old age pensions and pensions to the physically-disabled were disbursed on time. Addressing a review meeting the District Collectors through a video conference from Hyderabad on Tuesday, he said that the old and the infirm should not be put to any inconvenience by depriving them of pensions.

The Chief Minister said that the officials concerned should chalk out a micro-plan with respect to the distribution of pensions and arrange disbursing centres at the gram panchayat and municipal wards. He said that as a special gift for the Sankranti festival, essential commodities would be given free of cost to the poor and this should be distributed to them by January 12. He said that the food items should be of high quality.

Chandrababu Naidu said that the government would set up a Swacch Bharat organisation to take up works relating to implement the sanitation measures in the district to make it celan and green. He said that the Swachh Bharat organisation would take up the construction of toilets in each and every house. In the villages, Rs 12, 000 would be sanctioned for the construction of individual lavatories and Rs 15,000 in the towns.

The Chief Minister said that a special portal would be set up in the Mee-Seva centres across the State to resolve the problems faced by people. The people could send their problems by post and they would be resolved immediately, he said.

Chandrababu said that files could be cleared easily through the e-office scheme which would be implemented soon and it would be linked to the Mee-seva portal.

He expressed hope that it would yield good results. He told the District Collectors that they should take steps and distribute the loan waiver amount to those farmers for the loans below Rs 50,000 under phase-1. The details of the farmers under phase-2 should be sent by January 12.

The Chief Minister advised the officials to take steps to construct smart villages and smart municipal wards on the lines of smart cities from January 18. He said that the Sankranti festival should be celebrated officially on a grand scale reflecting the traditions and culture of the Telugu people from January 13. Special competitions should be organised for women on the occasion. Cooking programmes and animal shows should be organised, he said.
Chandrababu Naidu said that he would undertake a padayatra stretching from 15 to 18 km from January 18 to create awareness among people about the Swachh Bharat campaign and would shortly announce the name of the district in which he would undertake the padayatra.

While the in-charge District Collector R Muthyala Raju took part in the video conference from Hyderabad, additional joint collector D Markandeyulu, DRDA project director Chandrasekhar Raju, Chief Planning Officer Vijayalakshmi and others were present.
