Anantapur: Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) held an awareness camp at Arts College grounds here on Tuesday to eradicate superstitions and mystical practices among the public and to enlighten them about science. The JVV members performed several stunts. A JVV member pulled a car with strings hooked to his back from Press Club to Tower Clock, another member walked on fire, took out mirchi bajjis from boiling oil with his fingers, while another member sat in the air without any support etc. Speaking on the occasion, JVV national secretary TV Rao said there was no magic or mantras involved here and every trick has a scientific reasoning. He challenged the godmen to perform miracles stating that JVV was ready to present Rs 5 crore if anyone of any religion proved miracles. Urban MLA V Prabhakar Chowdary lauded the JVV for its efforts to enlighten public about superstitions and black magic etc. He said self-belief is great than superstitions. The MLA gave a call to the public not to believe fake babas. JVV national president V Brahma Reddy, Arts College Principal Rangaswamy, JVV members, Deputy Mayor S Gampanna and others participated in the programme.
