Visakhapatnam: Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa, who also hold the home portfolio, on Tuesday launched the unique IT application pilot project Instant Complaint Logging Intgernet Kiosk (iclik) and Abhayam for the safety of people in general and women in particular at CMR Shopping Mall and police barracks in the city. This comes after the launch of `Citizen Web Portal' to strengthen citizen interface with the police.

Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister said over the next few weeks, the system would be implemented in all the cities and towns and steps would be taken to overcome software glitches for ensuring citizen-centric quality services. The Minister said the police have been striving hard to provide efficient, transparent and accountable administration in the State aided by latest technology and gadgets.

“We have made rapid strides towards providing technology driven and delivery systems to the people,'' he said.
Stating that information technology was playing a vital role in in the areas of criminal detection, police services to the citizens and others, he said. The police had been integrating information and communication technology into policing to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.

Giving details of the iClik, the Minister said system which appeared similar to ATM has a touch screen with an option to choose languages-Telugu, Hindi and English. “One can choose to write record or write and scan the complaint. The complainant will get an acknowledgement slip by an SMS with unique complaint reference number,” he said.

Soon after submission, the kiosk would transfer the date and dispatch the complaint to the police control room and later to the police station. The complainant would be periodically updated through SMS.

Regarding Abahayam, the Minister said it was a mobile application which would enable the people to inform the police by clicking the power button five times in case of panic situation. The app would automatically send the panic notification to the police and the victim's relatives.
