Nandyal (Kurnool): The electricity department officials snapped on Friday the power connection to the central lighting system of Municipality here, for not paying electricity bills which were kept pending because of the orders of the government to stop withdrawal from the treasury.

The Municipal authorities took the matter serious and took personal revenge by disconnecting the municipal water tap connection to a house, belonged to the father of Naga Raju, who is an Engineer in Electricity department.

The Municipal Council pays every month Rs 15 lakh to the Electricity department for the consumption of electricity for the use of water supply motors and streetlights in the town. The cheque for the payment had already been prepared on January 25 only. But, as per the orders of the government, the payment was stopped till Friday. The matter was taken to the notice of Municipal chairman Desam Sulochana, who convinced the electricity officials to cooperate till water was supplied in the town.

All the streetlights in the town were off on Thursday night as there was no electricity supply by electricity department. The Municipal Divisional Engineer Shakeer talked to the Electricity department Divisional Engineer Tirupathi Rao and requested him to continue supply as there were no dues. However, the electricity supply was stopped.

Later Municipal Officials disconnected the water supply to the house at Sanjeeva Nagar. For that, the electricity officials lodged a complaint with the Two Town police station. The Circle Inspector resolved the issue in presence of both the parties.
