Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Chandarababu Naidu is will lay the foundation stone for new capital during second week of June. It may be mentioned here that the AP government was formed on June 8. According to sources close to Naidu, the government is considering three dates and it may zero in on any date between June 10 and 12 for laying foundation at a grand function. Naidu wants to invite the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone.

The sources told The Hans India that the government hopes to achieve its target of land pooling by that time. As of now it has been able to acquire only about 1,6000 acres and is still facing some resistance from farmers in eight or nine villages located on the right banks of river Krishna.

The government which wants to lay the foundation stone on Ugadi day feels that June would be the best time. Another reason for this shifting of the date is because the Singapore too has to submit final master plan for the core capital. The team is likely to submit the plan by May end.

In the first phase of the construction of the capital, the government wants to construct the core capital which will house the Assembly building, Raj Bhavan, CM's camp office, secretariat, and residential quarters of Ministers, hospitals and schools. The sources further disclosed that the state government had submitted a project report for the core capital to the Centre seeking immediate financial aid of Rs 20,000 crore by the closure of the current financial year for the construction of the core capital. Naidu is likely to take up this issue with the Prime Minister when he would meet him after the Neeti Ayog meeting on February 6.
