The Japan's power major Fuji electric plans to install the smart grid in Vijayawada on a pilot basis.

The smart grid monitors the consumption of energy and forecasts the demand for the next 24 hours to make energy management efficient, says the Fuji Electric leaders who called on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu as part of the cooperation between Japan and government of Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that their smart grid technology can support the new capital, Fuji Electric officials informed the CM that sensors can be installed on buildings which will forecast energy requirement and give insights into energy consumption patterns

The Chief Minister also asked the delegates to install smart meters and suggest technologies which will bring down the transmission & distribution losses from the current 12.9% to 6%. The Fuji electric has also been asked to identify the possibilities of collaboration in energy-related technology areas such as renewable energy (wind, solar, biomass, etc.). ‘Fuji Electric should develop the new capital on model of Kitakyushu Japan’s first eco-town project ‘Chandrababu Naidu says.

Fuji Electric officials plan to visit Andhra Pradesh again with New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) officials in March to set up their pilot project at Vijayawada.
