Nellore Pensioners get Fake Currency
The pension distribution programme by Postal Department on Friday created panic among people at Zakir Hussain Nagar in the third division here as some pensioners received counterfeit notes. The pension was distributed to 100 persons at Zakir Hussain Nagar. Out of them, as many as 13 pensioners reportedly received fake notes.

The Postal officials refuted the allegations and said that they had distributed genuine notes. The Postal officials suspect foul play as the pensioners returned to the office exactly after an hour. The victims were aghast at the response of the officials. The incident sent alarm bells ringing because of the fear that counterfeit notes gangs had spread their tentacles deep inside the district.
The fake notes gangs are reportedly operating in Alluru, Kavali, Udayagiri, Nayudupeta, Gudur, Kovoor and Nellore. The distribution of fake notes was witnessed in the programmes like employment guarantee scheme and even in transactions in commercial banks.
