In a state wide drive against spiraling road accidents, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to demolish and remove all unauthorized flexis, hoardings cut outs and statues on highways and also Panchayat Roads which were leading to accidental deaths.

The Chief Minister ordered officials to shift all cut-outs of associations, hoardings and statues of political parties, even TDP if they were an affront and cause of accidents on the roads traffic. He added that the statues of national leaders could be shifted to compounds of government institutions.

His direction came in the wake of increasing road accidents and specially that of heart rending incident of death of a bride and her family yesterday. He directed officials to honor the Supreme Court orders of 18-1-2013 to take out unnecessary flexis and shift statues. The High Court too has recently given orders to remove them before February 5, in both the new states, following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in the Court.

It is said that the Chief Secretary had requested the Court for more time to take action. He asked officials to alert collectors on identifying these statues, cut-outs and flexis and convince people to shift them to private spaces within 15 days.
