Hyderabad: Promoting the State as ‘Sunrise Andhra Pradesh,’ the State government is all set to bring in a new tourism policy, aiming to invite Rs 10,000 crore investments by 2020 and Rs 20,000 crore by 2029 February end. In a review meeting with the top officials of the State Tourism department here, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed them to prepare the new policy and make arrangements to unveil the government’s vision on tourism promotion in Tirupati.

The CM wanted the new policy to promote the State as a best tourism destination in the country and increase the number of visiting tourists from the present 92 million to 172 million by 2020. The tourism sector would be promoted under Public Private Partnership (PPP) in a big way. The government would function as a facilitator and clear the proposals from private partners through single window system.

Naidu instructed the officials to organise food festivals every three months which also would help promote tourism. Theme development tourism, beach tourism, religious tourism, spiritual tourism, heritage tourism, Buddhist tourism and eco tourism would be promoted in a big way through the new policy.

He asserted the new policy should be on the lines of Japan and Singapore promoted as the destination for international tourism. The government would also seek help from the two Asian countries to strengthen the tourism sector. The Chief Minister told the officials that a big convention centre was coming up in Vijayawada, Tirupati, and Visakhapatnam. The centres would help to conduct international events. State Tourism Minister K Achannaidu and Tourism Secretary Neerab Kumar Prasad were present in the meeting.
