The Election Commission of India on Wednesday issued the schedule for MLC elections for two Teacher constituencies (East Godavari-West Godavari and Krishna-Guntur) in Andhra Pradesh and two Graduate constituencies in Telangana (Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad).

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India on Wednesday issued the schedule for MLC elections for two Teacher constituencies (East Godavari-West Godavari and Krishna-Guntur) in Andhra Pradesh and two Graduate constituencies in Telangana (Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad).

Notification for the elections will be issued on February 19. Polling will be held on March 16 and counting will be taken up three days later on March 19. The last date for nominations is February 26. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on February 27 while the last date for withdrawal of candidature was fixed as March 2.

Elections have been necessitated following the end of tenure of four MLCs representing the above constituencies. MLC from Mahbubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad Graduates constituency Prof K Nageshwar and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates MLC K Dileep Kumar are completing their term on March 29. Likewise, Teachers MLCs from East Godavari and West Godavari constituency KVV Satyanarayana Raju (Chaitanya Raju) and Krishna-Guntur constituency are set to finish their tenure on the same day (March 29).

Graduates can enroll their names: Warangal collector Meanwhile, Warangal District Collector Vakati Karuna said that graduates who intend to enroll their names as voters could do so by logging into www.ceotelangana.nic.in. There are a total of 2,63,288 enlisted graduate voters in Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda districts put together. Of the total voters, 1,93,360 are men, 69,916 are women and 12 voters belong to the third gender. In all, there are 278 polling stations.
